Across the Tyne - On the Shields Foot Ferry

There are historical documents going back as far as 1377 that detail a ferry crossing between the two settlements of North and South Shields on opposite sides of the River Tyne, near where it meets the Sea. Today the ferry service is operated by Nexus.
